Day 141 - Library of British Food

My UCL library accounts says that it will be expired on 29th May. So I thought better visit the libraries one last time.

The central piece of the main library, beneath the dome of the Portico.

No space? Bookshelves along the corridor

Didn't do much today as the weather is bad. So let's talk about cooking.

Although stereotypically, there isn't much imagination British food, there are some interesting things in British Food.

This is called a Parsnip. Was told that this is a very important part of British Food culture, but didn't had the chance to try it anywhere.

Yorkshire pudding - a light flaky pastry that is made with flour and drippings. Traditionally, it is made with beef drippings when they roast beef for Sunday lunch, but as I don't eat beef, I don't get to eat it. But found ready made ones made with palm oil instead on offer at Waitrose.

My usual mix for roasting potatoes - basalmic vinegar, olive oil, garlic and thyme from my window.

Roasted potatoes, my way. (don't sing the Frank Sinatra song please)

Roasted the Parsnip. It's like a very sweet carrot with the texture of a potato.

Rhubarb Crumble on offer. Always see this red-celery looking vegetable and tempted to try it. But was told it is sour. Yes it's sour, but it is nice in the Rhubarb Crumble.
