Day 4 - A beautiful side of London
As the weather is @£%!@£%! cold and gloomy, I didn't have the mood to visit any touristy spots. Ajarn Koong (The lecturer for my SE3221: Traditional Music in a Southeast Asian Country last academic year) suggested that I take her stuff to use, which she has left them with her friend, P'Roy, to keep for her. Turns out my eventless day became a nice afternoon.
I met P'Roy at Hammersmith station, where we took a bus to his home. There, I was stunned. We were only in Zone 2, i.e. relatively central London, or just outside Central London. Yet, it felt like a peaceful suburbs with so much space and greenary and a nice river (or is it a canal) that flows through. The houses were apparently pre-war council houses, but it gives the place so much of a character. (curse myself for being too engrossed talking instead of taking pictures)
P'Roy is a interesting fellow. A London-borned Thai who speaks fluent Thai and plays in the Thai music ensemble as well. Oh yes, I was invited to join him at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) on Tuesday.
Though we didn't find anything that I would find useful ( a deeper pot for soups, baking tray, duvet, desk lamp), it was a nice trip to see a beautiful side of London that I would not know at all.
Definitely not a waste of time. :)
