Day 37 - Of religion and planning
I finally emailed the guy I talked to on Monday in school. What happened was that there was a "Islam Awareness Week" in UCL that started on Monday. Having an innate interest in different religions (I can't point a finger why, so I believe it's in-born. :P), I went to read more about Islam on the exhibition.
I was approached by this guy from the society who introduced himself as a Brit-borned of Pakistani descent, doing a PhD here in UCL. It was interesting talking to him about life decisions and religion. It is a first time I spoke to someone as conservative as him. Yet, he was opened to discussion, and does not put down or show disrespect to any of the ideas put forth by other religions that I mentioned to him. Most importantly, he did not attempt to sell Islam (unlike......shall not point fingers), nor did he put down any other religions. Too bad our conversation had to end early, as I had to crash the "Reconstructing Past Environment" lecture. It was interesting talking to him. He did give me a copy of the Quran (translated), which was distributed during the fair. So nice of him - a step forward for me to try to understand this religion further.
Finally finished all my planning for my Greek trip for reading week, that would start on Sunday. I still can't book ferry tickets from Athens to Santorini from the company's website. Anyway, it's off-season. Likely to have seats anyway.
It's my first solo trip.
