Day 146 - Paris I
There are people who hate it (like the other exchangers), and there are people who love it. There are people who aspire to go there. Heck, ABBA even wrote a song about it.
Some call it the "City of Lights". Some call it a rude city. Some call it a City of Romance.
Heck, Eurostar, the super-fast train service got discount for tickets. Go and see for myself lah! Better than spending thousands in the future and to hate it (if I end up hating it)
Waiting at St Pancras Terminal, London. It's just next to Kings Cross, so it's a 15 minutes hassle-less walk. Even Eurostar use Google Earth.
Went there early to clear the French immigration, but have to wait for quite a while as well.
Boarding the train at St Pancras
Inside a Eurostar train.
Paris Gaud Du Nord train station.
20+ platforms. Endless.
I saw that if I buy 10 metro tickets at one go, it will be a lot cheaper. Thought it might be in the form of a pass or a card, but no.....literally a stack of tickets.
Parisan metro.
Like some European metros, open your own door.
They have a lot of mechanisms to prevent fare cheats. The doors are for exit only, with opening mechanisms on one side. As for the barriers to enter, there are several mechanisms as well. But still see people finding ways around it......
My hoste, St Chrisopher Inn. New and purpose-built.
located next to a scenic canal.
Bridge next to hostel being raised for ferries to pass.
Food is ridiculously expensive here in France. Waffles for 2 dinners and lunch tomorrow at €0.80
After settling in the hostel, I took a metro ride to Monmarte for Sacré-Cœur and a panaromic view of the city. Joy said "must go this place!"
Too bad the icon of the city, Effiel Tower is not visible from here. :( It's 7.30pm already by the way.
Back to hostel. It's already 9pm. Interesting font.
