Day 16 - First Weekend Trip - North Pennines

On the first week I arrived in London, my wonderful friend, Keng Rui (some of you may know him as Mr Wee), called from Cambridge to ask if I would like to join him for a weekend trip. So I thought, why not.

Hike a lot? Aiyah, do now when I'm young lah. Next time old already, cannot hike long distance.

So on the fateful day, we would meet at Darlington Train Station. They from Cambridge, aku from London.

In the early hours of London......
King's Cross Platform 1. 9 and 10 is in a separate building and looks like this. So nope, it's not like what they said in Harry Potter.

I chose a quiet coach....shhhh

Darlington Town centre. While waiting for our dear friend Nardev who had to go back to get his railcard.

The Totoro executioner strikes

Totoro's nightmare didn't end there. We were too hungry

Barnard Castle with the travelling gang. A castle ruin from medieval times.

Round tower - going up was over-rated

ruins. all goes back to nothing.

Then we head on to Middleton-in-Tessadale for dinner.

contarary to the blog's name, I haven't had any kentang (potatoes) in UK yet. No, crisps (that's what potato chips is called here) don't count. So this is my first kentang here: scampi(first time eating scampi here) with chips and peas

Then we went on to Holwick for the Bed-and-Breakfast to rest. Hike next day!
